Why we needed Maneki-neko

I discovered this odd little plastic item the other day when I was checking the kitchen floor for interesting crumbs of food. It had fallen from the Welsh dresser - and it was moving.

The moving plastic part was intriguing but it smelled of nothing in particular. And it didn't look interesting in shape.

Then I discovered it was meant to be a Maneki-neko - a beckoning cat that is meant to bring prosperity to small businesses.

Luck is much needed in the household at the moment because my human has writer's block and I have not been feeling well. I think I ate something from out of the garden that did not agree with me.

I felt so bad last night that instead of sleeping on top of my human, I hid away under a bedroom chair. She woke up at 3am and decided I was lost.

Panicking - like humans do - she wandered round the house and into the garden calling me and rattling the food bowl. As I was feeling sick, I did not respond.

This morning she took me to the vet who said there was nothing "clinically" wrong. Purrhaps the Maneki-neko luck will make me feel better.

It might also stops her writer's block. She needs all the pennies she can earn for the vet's bills.

  1. We too hope yu and your human have better fortunes. Please don't eat random plants. (Catnip is ok)

  4. Honestly, I think your human has a "write's block" because she usually uses (I'm polite and I don't want to say "she's stealing") your ideas! Most of us, old enough, know that! So, it's only normal if you are not feeling good...there is nothing she can steal! But I definitely wish you both to feel better soon and overcome everything (block or not) together!

  5. Maybe a juicy mouse will make everybody feel better. Are you sharing your meals with your human yet? I do, but what I share are steaks or roasted turkey (and everybody's happy).

  6. I think for Maneki Neko to work, the cat has to be outside the box (her moving paw in a closed space doesn't bring in any wealth). So, take it out and think outside the box yourself.

  7. Rule #1: Stop worrying (give your worries to the universe, angels, or god). Rule #2: go for a long walk in nature (hopefully it is a sunny day). Rule #3: Enjoy a lovely meal or lovely time with your cat (he's not feeling well because he senses your anxiety and worries). Rule #4: Ask the universe, angels, or god to give you what you need to unblock your block and have plenty of everything you need (for vet bills, etc.). Hugs & purrs

  8. Did you know that in the UK, you have a political party that fights for animals' rights? It seems that recently, over 41,500 Londoners voted for this lady, the Party Leader! Why not contact her? Maybe a conversation with her will unblock your writer's block! Just a thought!
